An assistant professor at the department of theory and history of architecture and fine arts, St Petersburg State Academy of Industrial Arts,
A member of the Union of Artists, the Union of Journalists,
And a member of St Petersburg Academy of Contemporary Art, the International Association of Art Critics

Was born on 18 January 1933 in Kiev. He graduated from Kiev State Shevchenko University in 1956, in 1962 he completed his post-graduate studies of the history of art at the Academy of Building and Architecture in the Ukraine. He worked in Kiev State Museum of Ukrainian Fine Arts in 1957-60, in 1963-63 — in the Russian State Museum, in 1965-66 he was the editor-n-chief of Fine Arts at the Publishing House („Мистецтво“), Kiev.

1966 — present: the State Russian Museum, senior research worker, head of a department, leading researcher. He started publishing his works in 1957. The author of books, catalogues, albums, articles on the 20th century art (in all — 250 publications). The author of reports on the 20th century art and on the museum in our country and outside. He took part in holding numerous exhibitions at home and at museums and galleries of foreign countries. The author of a hundred radio and television programmes broadcast in our country and abroad.
