Gromov Nickolai
Art critic, Professor, Ph. D. in art criticism. Was born in Leningrad. In 1969 graduated from the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts of the USSR, department of Theory and History of Arts. In 1972 completed his postgraduate studies and defended a Ph. D thesis. Since 1972 he has held a tenure at the Academy of Theatre Art and has been an associate professor at the University of Culture, the School of Russian Drama, the Academy of Russian Ballet and several lyceums in St Petersburg. In 1980 he became a member of the Union of Artists. He has published albums, articles, catalogs and brochures, as well as books on Russian artists: A. Romanychev, V. Lednev, V. Chekmasov, V. Nabatov, A. Rychkov, N. Klemina, V. Gorev, S. Kubasov, N. Abramova and others. He has published articles on Edvard Munch, Ph. Kremer, Jevel Demikovsky (Jules Olitski), Raimondo D'Aronco, Diego Rivera, David Siqueiros, and José Orozco. He has published five textbooks on the history of modern scenography.
